Clover Canyon - Colour explosion

Founded in 2011 by Rozae Nichols, Clover Canyon is a label from LA that reinterprets California's lifestyle.

Eclectic and vivid prints to represent a joyful attitude. A modern way to enhance femininity with one of the main trends of the season. These unique prints are designed in-house and the team subsequently combines the futuristic design with the craftsmanship around the patterning and hand-cutting processes.

Travelling, art, astrology and urban skylines are the inspiration for these original designs. 

Here is a sample of the Resort, Pre-Spring and Spring collections. My favourite garments and styles are the head-to-toe print suit, the bomber jacket (keep an eye on this one as it will be a key piece for this spring) and the neoprene skirt. The shirts can give an edgy look to a plain pair of trousers, and one of the crepe de chine or sateen blazers will be able to make heads turn around on the streets.

When future meets tradition, this is what you get.

Folk - Here come the girls

For years women have been granted with a "footwear only" members policy at Folk, while we were dreaming of wearing those comfy cardigans and stylish shirts that were reserved for the lucky guys.

But our time has arrived! The Debut Womenswear collection at Folk has been launched for next season. And it's a good one.

We will be able to relax wearing one of the soft and warm cardigans. Or we could just choose to wear a structured tuxedo jacket paired with tailored trousers.

The collection also includes silk tops, indigo mao-type collar shirts and ponchos inspired by utilitarian workwear, which is one of the macro-trends for the next 18 months.

The collection maintains the brand's ethos and includes innovative details within the designs.

It has a kind of understated and laid-back elegance that only a detailed design process and carefully selected fabrics can offer.

Band of Outsiders (and II) - Oh Boy!

The LA based fashion brand Band of Outsiders has two women's collections: Boy, or the main collection, and Girl, the more casual, girly, softer collection

With Michelle Williams as the face of their Spring 2012 collection, the fashion label played with feminine versus tough women, Hitchcock-ish style. 

For the pre-fall 2012 collection Scott Sternberg has taken the inspiration from the East Coast and the cooler weather from NYC has lead the brains of this fashion brand to forget for a second about the beach, sun  and laid-back style from his adopted hometown

A buttoned-up and androgynous look, double-breasted woolen coats with leather elbow patches, khaki trousers nipped at the ankle like the ones worn by Arizona Muse below

H&M range with Maison Martin Margiela

After some very successful collaborations with luxury designers brands (Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Marni...), the Swedish house has recently announced the production of a new collection for Autumn 2012 with the great Maison Martin Margiela.

Yes, I'll definitely queue for this one

Rapsodia - Bohemian rock

The new AW'12 collection from Rapsodia is inspired by rock and the nomad culture
Think of those September days and chilly nights, when summer seems to be part of our memories
The collection presented by this Argentinian brand is full of finely embroidered vests, long coats and ponchos, studded jackets and hints of leather, with reminiscences of the 70's rock lifestyle
Ikat and geometrical prints and layered mixture of garments make the iconic edgy look of this fashion label

Sessun - French delicacy

After a successful fashion show at Who's Next in Paris, anthropology student from Montpellier Emma Francois set up the first Sessun boutique in Marseille in 1999

Now an international fashion label, I first knew about this fab French brand when I found this shorts in Supra (Portobello Road) 

Stockists include Urban Outfitters (I found an amazing blouse at the NYC store)

And there are lots of reasons to love Sessun: delicate shapes and soft colours that enhance feminity, vintage reminiscence and playful girlyness with an androgynous wink

Different elements drive the inspiration for the collections: a colour range, a film, a story or even an album cover

With a mix of graphic and sound designers in her team, Sessun's trendy and timeless designs match the philosophy and key aspects of their identity

Preen - Deconstructed chic

Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi set up their first shop in Portobello Road, with one-off pieces that quickly run off from their hands

Preen was born and grew up under the influence of punk, deconstruction, recycling and hand craft effects

Evolution has brought the fashion label to a more effortless elegance look

Still keeping a strong image with cutting-edge shapes

From the dark romantic floral and leopard prints of the pre-collection, with beautiful details like the blouses' collars

To the faded pixeled pastel prints and lace of the SS'12 collection
